Fat-soluble nutrients such as CoQ10, algal DHA, vitamin D3, astaxanthin and lycopene are widely used in nutraceutical products. They support many supplement concepts, including energy, healthy ageing, vegan nutrition, eye health, immune wellness and multinutrient formulations.
However, many fat-soluble nutrients are difficult to use directly in tablets, sachets, stick packs, premix powders and functional powder blends.
Many fat-soluble nutrients are supplied as oils, oleoresins or crystalline powders. These forms may be suitable for some applications, but they are often difficult to use directly in dry-format products.
Oil-based ingredients can affect powder flow, create surface oil, distribute unevenly or require additional formulation work before use. Crystalline materials can clump, settle, segregate or create poor mouthfeel in powder-based applications.
